Kara is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist living in Geelong with her husband and three daughters. Growing up in Warrnambool, Kara knew she wanted to be an Obstetrician from a young age. Kara travelled to Melbourne in 2002 to study Medicine at the University of Melbourne. Whilst there, she also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in the field of Bioethics.

Kara undertook her specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at the Royal Women’s Hospital with a focus on caring for families with high risk pregnancies and birth.

Kara has a passion for teaching and health communication. She is a Clinical Lecturer at Deakin University Medical School and is the co-founder of pregnancy podcast Pregnancy Uncut, a not-for-profit resource that explores the stories and experiences of women who have experienced complex or high risk pregnancies, with the aim to help families feel seen and heard in their pregnancy journeys.

Kara believes in the importance of advocacy for the advancement of women’s health and is the 2026 Treasurer of NASOG - the National Association of Specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

When she is not helping birth babies, Kara can be found running around the Barwon River as she prepares for her next marathon.

Kara is passionate about providing high quality pregnancy and birth care, with a focus on supporting women to make their own informed choices around their care and birth experience.
